Pynes House Wedding photography – Filippa & Sam

There are some weddings that just feel magical from start to finish, and Filippa and Sam’s celebration at Pynes House was exactly that kind of day. Seemingly effortless elegance with a high energy wedding party, the electric atmosphere and LOVE for this couple was tangible.

From the moment I met Filippa & Sam for a pre-wedding shoot at Pynes House in February, I knew this was going to be something truly special. The connection we developed when walking around chatting about the day made capturing their day even more rewarding, and I’m so excited to share some highlights from their beautiful wedding at Pynes House, one of Devon’s most gorgeous venues, and a clear favourite for me – the bonus is its just 30 minutes down the road!

A Dreamy Setting at Pynes House

For couples seeking an elegant country house wedding that has a modern feel, Pynes House offers that rare combination of luxury and charm. Situated in Devon’s rolling countryside yet conveniently located for Exeter, it feels both grand and intimate—perfect for a wedding as chic as Filippa and Sam’s. Pynes House was bathed in golden September sunshine, which felt like a gift after a summer of wet days. No sausage burying needed! From the moment I arrived for prep the light streaming through the historic windows created a romantic, almost cinematic glow that is a dream for any photographer. As the sun began to dip, we slipped out for a few magical shots during golden hour. It was one of those moments that feels almost too perfect to be real and a much needed breath of fresh air for Filippa and Sam during the speeches.

There are a LOT of images in this post for Filippa and Sam’s Pynes House Wedding Photography, which I personally think is helpful to get a feel of my work and also inspire you – plus how do I possibly choose favourites?

Style and Elegance: The Bride, Groom & Wedding Party

Filippa looked effortlessly stylish in a Jesús Peiró gown with feathered shoulders—a modern touch that added flair to her classic bridal look. Her bouquet of red roses paired perfectly with her bold red nails, creating a chic and striking contrast. The bridesmaids wore elegant black dresses, each in a unique style that allowed their personalities to shine while adding sophistication to the overall aesthetic.

Sam and his groomsmen were equally dapper in timeless black tie. The effect was both polished and refined, complementing the luxurious surroundings of Pynes House. Together, Filippa and Sam looked straight out of a fairytale, embodying a timeless elegance that was beautifully in sync with Pynes House’s stately charm.

Traditions and Heartfelt Speeches

One of the most memorable aspects of Filippa and Sam’s wedding was the incorporation of Swedish wedding traditions. During our pre-wedding shoot, they shared some of the unique elements they had planned, including the Swedish tradition of allowing any guest to give a speech—a surprise for both the bride and groom. The speeches were warm, funny, and heartfelt, adding a personal touch that resonated deeply with everyone in the room.

Another wonderful Swedish tradition was the “schnapps songs” sung between courses. Guests would sing and toast, bringing an infectious energy to the reception. When Filippa and Sam said they were walking into ‘The Swedish National Anthem’ then came dancing in to Mama Mia, the whole room lit up with cheers!

An epic dancefloor

From the heartfelt ceremony to the lively reception, every part of the day had its own vibe. As the evening settled, the celebration ramped up, and the dance floor quickly filled with energy. I stayed late into the night, capturing moments of laughter, joy, and spontaneous dance moves that perfectly reflected Filippa and Sam’s vibrant personalities. The whole wedding was truly a vibe—a perfect mix of elegance, tradition, and fun.

A Celebration to Remember at Pynes House

Looking back on Filippa and Sam’s wedding, I can’t help but feel grateful to have been part of such a special day at Pynes House. It’s a venue that offers so much to couples—stunning architecture, beautiful grounds, and that unique ability to make a wedding feel both grand and personal.

If you’re planning your own wedding at Pynes House, there’s no shortage of inspiration from Filippa and Sam’s celebration.
