What a beautiful day for Natalie and Gary’s Watergate Bay Hotel Wedding Photography! Natalie’s very first enquiry was a text with ‘is my date free’ which provoked a short text message conversation. What Natalie didn’t know at the time was that we’d bookmarked 30th April for our own wedding, but I had a good feeling about Natalie’s enquiry, the things she said about what she liked about our work and what she felt was important struck a chord, so I decided to hold onto the date for a little while and see what happened. After a successful Skype chat where we immediately hit it off with Natalie and Gary, they decided to book, so we changed our wedding to the week later. Sometimes ‘gut’ feelings tell you more than your mind ever can because my ‘good feeling’ from Natalie’s initial enquiry was absolutely right – we loved these guys! A few months later we met up one morning in Dawlish Warren and met little Buddy – Natalie and Gary’s cherished new family member – a chocolate cocker spaniel. Mike almost drowned Buddy, but thats another story…
After a few months and several email conversations about wedding plans, dresses and various other bits, the day came around and a glorious one it was! Everything happens for a reason and we totally believe we were meant to be there to capture Natalie and Gary’s Watergate Bay Hotel wedding. In the moments prior to the ceremony when I arrived at the top of the aisle to wait for Natalie, Gary almost had me in tears! This doesn’t happen often being such a seasoned wedding photographer, but having spent the morning with Natalie and seeing the progression of her emotions throughout the morning, then greeting Gary at the top of the aisle and seeing his emotions almost tipped me over the edge! I think knowing it would be Mike and me the following week probably had a small part to play in that perhaps too!
Watergate Bay Hotel is a stunning place to get married, the location is perfect, and even when the weather isn’t fantastic, the bay is still such a beautiful place and Watergate Bay Hotel is modern and well equipped for all weather. After an emotional ceremony everyone went out to the balcony for canapés and drinks. As the sun was so bright and guests were very hot we decided to hold off on the family photos until after the meal and speeches, so Natalie and Gary got to enjoy their full reception whilst we darted about capturing everyone enjoying themselves. This ended up being a great idea as by the time we got to the beach it had cooled a little and the light had dropped so it made for some beautiful relaxed photos as Natalie and Gary recounted the day so far and enjoyed the early evening sun. Buddy made an appearance for a few photos too – of course!
We hope to see Natalie and Gary again soon and loved being there to capture their day for them.
Feedback after our couples watch their slideshows is what we thrive off, and here was Natalie’s email following her first viewing with Gary:
‘What can we say… Utterly speechless… Watched it twice… Cried twice… Thank you both soooooooo much! We cannot put into words how grateful we are to have such talented photographers capture our wedding! You honestly are out of this world!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t think it’s sunk in yet just how amazing they all are!! We are sooo over the moon I could kiss you both!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!’
It was totally our pleasure guys, thanks for having us there! Now, some pictures…
