Weddings in Devon – Adela & Doug.

We never get tired of Weddings in Devon – Adela and Doug got married in a truly amazing venue and one we have never worked at before. Greenway House is another fine example of the National Trusts amazing work here in Devon. A stunning Georgian house tucked almost secretly away on the banks of the River Dart with a view through the trees to the winding river that is truly inspirational. The house was once home to the novelist Agatha Christie and has been meticulously restored and maintained as if she were still a resident. It was a real pleasure to work in such an original venue and one that feels like you’re stepping back in time to another world. There were however certain restrictions that came with such a rare opportunity; the room in which the ceremony was held had a maximum capacity limit which meant we could only shoot from outside through the window! Adapt and overcome was a mantra that helped and It was a mantra soon to be adopted by Adela and Doug. Later that day they received a phone call informing them that their wedding band had cancelled due to travel problems which meant they had no evening entertainment! Almost as some sort of divine providence there happened to be a full band performing in the centre of Dartmouth that day. With some smooth talking and I’m sure maybe a little bribery by the best man, the band agreed to play some songs especially for the new couple so they could have their first dance. In the rain and before the gathered public Adela and Doug danced to the live band playing just for them. It was an amazing end to truly original day.
