At the beginning of April we headed up North to The Wirral, to photograph Ateeka and Raheel’s wedding at Thornton Manor. We have photographed a couple of Muslim weddings now and we are always humbled by the family love, warmth and emotion, it’s an honour and a joy to document. Ateeka and Raheel held their wedding day in the Lakeside marquee, and it was a fairly intimate day, with only around 300 guests, the Walima the following day (next to come) was around 600, and held in the Walled Garden. Thornton Manor is an extensive venue, with three main areas (that we know of!) for weddings, we loved exploring with Ateeka and Raheel when we had a few moments in between events! Ateeka has an amazing smile and was just the happiest bride, and it was wonderful to see the connection she has with Raheel, you can tell they are just so comfortable in each others space and make an awesome couple. We loved working with the guys at Unique Films, who were great, and very easy to work around. I spent the morning with Ateeka in the bridal room at Thornton Manor, whilst Mike was at Raheel’s house documenting the grooms side of the family. From what I hear, I definitely had the most chilled out morning! The most emotional part of the wedding is always the Rukhsati, when the bride leaves her family home for her new life with her husband. It’s both an exciting adventure and the end of an era, so there is plenty of emotion and as photographers we always want to make sure we strike that balance between a respectful distance and capturing those important moments between the bride and her friends and family. The Rukhsati happened very quickly due to events running late and the driver of the Rolls Royce threatening to leave! Raheel and Ateeka left Thornton Manor for the evening and drove off into a beautiful sunset, what a wonderful start to married life!
Ateeka and Raheel’s wedding continued with the Walima, which will hit the blog very soon!
